I have a couple bash scripts that I’ve written and been using but some need a rename, and once I came across an online list of shell scripts that you could compare against to make sure your name isn’t already “taken” by something that someone could have installed to minimize the chance of conflicts with scripts/aliases. I can’t for the life of me find that site right now and have no clue what I’d search to find it, would any of you happen to know such a site?

    Don’t overthink it!

If your script is specific to your distribution, check your distribution’s repositories.

If you plan to release, do a quick web research if the name is already taken by a larger software project.

If it’s just for you, just name them whatever you like.

Weeell I want to make it more agnostic, for friends and just for my own distro hopping purposes. I’ll probably never “release” it (like on git*) because I’m no coder so it’s kinda just some little useful bullshit, but I may post it on Mastodon or send it to people who want it using paste.centos.org.

No clue why I didn’t think “just search ‘X cli’ like a normal person.” Thanks haha.
