Well, they did kill hangouts. They never said they were going to kill it and also leave their users without an easy migration path. If anything this is better. They reduced redundant apps. Hangouts did somethings better though

Messages is sms, MMS, RCS. I’m not sure what chat uses, but it’s a data protocol not tied to the cell network

They migrated hangouts to chat and opened chat up to unpaid users

It’s funny actually. Not directly gaming related, but I just yesterday updated my graphics drivers and my video editing software had a blue tint to everything in the preview window. Had to keep rolling back to find the version that broke it. That stuff drives me insane.

I get it, but whatever is being done in the PC ecosystem isn’t really solving the problem either. The last bastion of cheating in the console space is 3rd party controllers. Banning them is going to be way more effective than any anti cheat software.

If I was using an unapproved controller I’d probably be pissed, but how big is that market outside of people cheating? Aren’t most 3rd party controllers approved devices anyways?
