It’s not as uncommon as you might expect – here is a list for the curious. And I don’t mean to denegrate nuclear energy as a power source; it is vastly better than fossil fuels and safe when done correctly – I have participated in the safe generation of nuclear power. But the ramifications of it being done incorrectly are severe to say the least, and everyone should be aware that we do commonly have issues with it, especially in aging facilities. We commonly extend plants decades beyond what their initial construction planned for.
Edited to say I just realized you said meltdowns, not radioactive leaks, which I do agree with. Sorry for confusion
This isn’t true – radioactive gases were leaked into the surrounding area. The containment vessel remained intact, and NRC concluded that no measurable harm was done, but there was definitely a release and that’s why it was such a big deal. They evacuated children and pregnant women from the area in response.
The italics are a nice hint. Good Poe’s Law submission.
I love that as of this writing, there are only two downvotes in this entire war.
It’s a professional refrigerated salad bar, so I’d expect the same as you’d find in a restaurant. Maybe prep in the morning and dispose/repurpose into dinner in the evening. Such a cool idea, $1300 is a scary investment but it seems amazing.
But following the surface of a sphere causes you to constantly change direction
I think you’ve generalized a bit too much. The gender-swapped format was not created for this exact meme, it’s just a jovial commentary on male stereotypes women find unappealing. In this case, the joke isn’t that she saw a stack of random games, they’re all FIFA – did you maybe not notice that? The annoying male FIFA player is a pretty well-established meme at this point.
A fellow opposum!
Value-adders.
Yeah I got the impression it was a recoverable condition after a search found a bunch of guides for “unbricking” (Android phones). Semantics are the true enemy it seems
So then it didn’t run after the car wash – unless we’re ignoring the mandatory steps needed to get it working again, the headline is pretty accurate. Or are you considering “bricked” a permanent condition?
That’s so cute, I can’t. Thanks for paying your taxes on time.
Crypto did unfortunate things to the space.
That’s the intended effect – a condescending dismissal of being condescendingly dismissed. Not much you can say to a clear sign of disengagement.

Thanks! I hadn’t gotten around to finding a GW replacement yet, super happy this came up!
This is a strange response for me because de-federating is an active step on behalf of its admin, usually after a vote amongst its users, at creating a virtual boundary between the two entities. How is that burying your head in the sand? And yeah, lemmy.world is big, but aside from the obvious loss of content/users, what other effect will that have on the mass of de-federated instances?
I didn’t realize until now, but I’ve been very fortunate to be able to take the bus to work recently, and the lack of fear of other vehicles on the road is probably a huge contributor to how much better I feel after the commute. I have that anxiety ever-present in the back of my mind while driving a sedan.

Pretty much, but highly dependent on the energy of the ionizing radiation. Lower would come out as a dull grain, higher would show up as bright spots. Neither would look like this post though lol
