  • No, an average German speaker from Germany wouldn’t understand it. It’s basically an extremely heavy German dialect, belonging to the group of Allemanic German dialects. Non intelligible dialects are not uncommon in many parts of Germany, though. In some German regions (e.g. southern Black Forest), the local dialects also belong to the group of Allemanic dialects. The locals from there might have a somewhat easier time getting used to Swiss German dialect varieties.

Isn’t the point of a 15 minute city that you can get anywhere within 15 minutes without a car?

(By the way, from a European standpoint it sounds really funny that 15 minute cities are not a reality for you. Like, why would you ever build a city differently in the first place?)

  • What kind of argument is this? Mostly pedestrian, public transport and bicycle based cities still have utility trucks and vans which you can use when you really need to. It’s a pain to navigate the city and the parking fees are high, but it’s something you would totally accept to for moving homes.

You can try googling “How to move homes in Amsterdam” and see whether people there manage to move homes.

TLDR: It’s not black and white, nobody wants to prohibit EVERY SINGLE MOTORIZED VEHICLE FOR EVERY SINGLE USECASE.
