I sincerely hope you never test this theory. I many people in this thread are severely underestimating how little noise is needed to be disruptive in the early morning.
My local noise ordinance sets the maximum permissible noise in residential areas during off-hours (10pm - 9am on weekends) at 45 dB. That can be exceeded by 5 dB for 15 minutes, 10 dB for 5 minutes, and 15 dB for 1.5 minutes. Lawnmowers are an exempt source of noise during day hours only. I guarantee if you were my neighbor your mower would be in violation of noise ordinance at night.
Plus, assume some people are sleeping with their windows open. Especially in mowing weather. Windows open overnight may be the only way they keep their house bearable during hot days.
Based on the design I think this is the one I have: https://www.ryobitools.com/products/details/46396037169#
It does say “brushless” but they’ve got a fair few different varieties. I don’t know, I mean like I said it is significantly quieter than a gas mower. It’s a good mower. But I don’t think it’s anywhere near quiet enough to consider using it during off hours.
My car insurance went up like 20% from last year to this year. Exact same shitty “coverage” as before.
What lawn mower do you have that is that quiet??? I have a Ryobi electric push mower that I bought last year and while it’s way quieter than a gas mower I would feel incredibly rude using it early in the morning.
And noise is different depending on time of day. Ambient noise is a lot lower in off-hours, so your mower would sound louder than it does during the day.
Clearly they all stem from the same triconsonantal root. Though I couldn’t find one for رجن (assuming the Egyptian pronunciation).
A favorite for me is “That’s not a good prize!”
July 1, 2023 was the (known in advance) effective date of the reddit API change that killed 3rd party apps. Not really too surprising a bunch of apps for Lemmy started development leading up to that change in order to try to establish a userbase among the refugees. I was one of those refugees.
Yeah, man. I’ll gnaw your face off.

I said consummate Vs. Consummate!!
We had that light switch installed for you so you could turn the lights on and off. Not so you could throw light switch raves!
Using racial slurs isn’t only damaging and insulting to the person being directly talked to or about. I suggest adopting a blanket position against racial slurs in any context.
I get the joke in the image and the reference in the title, though not the connection between the two.
Running water never grows stale, so you gotta just keep on flowing.
Stardew Valley, the 1.6 update adds lots of small new content in all the right places to really take the game to the experience I imagine ConcernedApe always wanted it to be. This is something like my 10th playthrough and it’s easily my favorite one since the 1st.
Whenever it comes out, I’m so excited for Haunted Chocolatier.
Fuck, I’ve never even heard of those. This whole system is garbage, how am I supposed to know how to protect myself from fraud when these companies just somehow automatically have authority to let thieves steal my identity? At the very least we should have a centralized government agency that you can issue a blanket freeze with. Better would be an actual proper ID system.
Yep, I’m in the unlucky half. It’s good practice anyway, but now I keep my credit frozen at all three credit bureaus unless I’m submitting an application. Doesn’t stop all fraud, but stops most of the kind that can fuck up my credit.
This only gets funnier the longer I look at it. Which is difficult to do since I start laugh-crying every time I read the names.
Almost all of this would be true if we celebrated a day (or two) each year that were outside of the months and weeks, except events tied to points in our orbit would stay put a lot more. We would still have the same calendar every year. In your version we have a full extra week every 6 or so years, in mine every year we have a dedicated New Year’s Day that isn’t in a regular month or a day of the week, and every 4 or so years (same rules as now) we have 2 New Year’s Days.
Though I would argue for Sunday being the 1st day of each month/year. IMO weekends should be like bookends, one on either side.
Edit: your Wiki link contained a link to the International Fixed Calendar, which I’ve been inadvertently arguing for. This is almost identical to what I’ve been proposing, except they put the leap day at the end of June. But it fixes the major disadvantage of your system: that a year isn’t a year. In your system 1/1 is never one year away from 1/1. In mine it is within leap day drift, just like the current calendar.
Isn’t that what I said?
Another laziness by the professors is using book questions instead of just writing their own.
When I taught I told my students that the book was a resource for studying the material from a different perspective than the one I gave in lectures. Not actually required for the course even though I didn’t have control over it being listed as required on the course listing. And I told them if they wanted to get it, they should find the cheapest copy they could. I’ve heard you can sometimes find very cheap electronic copies (wink wink).
It is funny to see the questions you write end up on Chegg though.
