Yes, in light of keeping the new vehicle for its entire “life” the depreciation argument falls fairly flat. It is more meant for the “average” person who keeps a car for three years or thereabouts. I cannot imagine investing that much money flippantly. I take the time to research what I want and mean to keep my auto for a long time. That said, I prefer a solid used car over new because it has depreciated to a more fair value. I’ve done both and not been displeased with either choice. Except for one BMW…
Weed. Okay maybe the pocket knife is better for a general gift as it is highly practical. I have a Gerber I’ve used for nigh on 20 years. I miss it when I travel, so I’ve bought an Opinel and toss it into my checked luggage so I am able to use it on a trip. If I lose it, it was not expensive. Had I lost my Gerber, I would be sad.
No shifting, but there exists a transmission in an EV.
Edit: I suppose I am calling even the one or few reduction gears a transmission. Not sure if that technically means it is a transmission.
Lifetime means 100k to BMTroubleU. That’s all they expect out of their vehicles. It seems insane to do this with machinery. All machinery needs occasionally to be serviced.
Opera was bought by a Chinese company a couple of years ago. So that tracks there too.
I use mine daily! It is very useful. I’ve also begun carrying a little pocket flashlight from Olight. It is flatish and clips into my pocket adjacent to the Gerber. I use it all the time too. Back of racks at work and all sorts of opportunities at home too.
Good luck finding the Gerber! Go get it and use it! Say hi to grammy!! ;)
