A lot of people resort to emulation simply so they can play mods too.
A lot of people resort to emulation simply so they can play mods too.
And yet people still say “if you don’t like ads, pay up” as if getting ads in a subscription is not a matter of time, like it’s happening to streaming.
I’m not extremely against all of copyright because I believe artists should have some protections (though the law sucks at this), but I also believe that once something becomes a decades-old billion-dollar franchise, non-identical imitation should be fair game. Can you imagine what would happen if companies could simply say that they own whole genres?
Windows 11 made my girlfriend’s laptop so slow, even she asked me to install Linux, and she is not even a techy type.
Does it seem to you that people are becoming more likely to verify sources?
Nevermind, like I just said before, how exactly do you verify fake porn with the source? Who is going to be volunteering their intimate pictures as reference? Or, do you really think all that it takes to avoid all issues is for the victim to say “that’s fake, it’s not me”?
Frankly, that sounds like pure wishful thinking to me.
This is a consideration that a lot of people are glossing over. Schlubby dudes might not even be affected to it at all. It’s not going to be widespread for everyone.
But it doesn’t. Nobody who is harassed or has their prospects undermined because of AI fakes is helped by repeating that. Especially because as the technology advances the only way to verify its legitimacy will be to compare it with real intimate pictures, which the person cannot show without being exposed to the exact same treatment.
It also doesn’t help that gossip can do all that harm as well so the point is moot.
Trying to point out that this is illogical and that nudes shouldn’t even be such a big deal is an uphill battle against human emotional, social and cultural tendencies. It would take much more than some offhand comments to affect it at all, and I wouldn’t count on that shift happening before the harms of AI fakes spread.
Wild that since the rise of the internet it’s like they decided advertising laws don’t apply anymore.
But Copyright though, it absolutely does, always and everywhere.
As someone who’s neither chinese nor american I want nothing more than these countries to keep their hands to themselves. I don’t like China doing it, and I don’t want the US doing it because China does it. Are y’all gonna hand a piece of your companies to every country they operate in? I’m guessing “no”.
Well, of course. They aren’t banning Facebook, Instagram or YouTube. That’s exactly how they want it.
Who knew firing most people keeping it running would have negative consequences 🤔
The movie industry can’t bother to provide and preserve the movies they make, they should shut the fuck up.
Haven’t I been hearing that since the rise of computing and the internet? And it’s probably been around even longer. Seems like this sort of stuff only gets going when a lot of workers start putting up a fight.
But hey, maybe 41% jobs lost might be the tipping point. Because people aren’t just gonna sit on the sidewalk and starve.
Cool evasion bro. You’re sure dedicated to the nuance you are calling dead.
Now even using quotes and specific sites isn’t guaranteed to get what you are looking for…
Oh so human rights just end when some armed folks feel like and that’s all fine and dandy?
And why ought Palestinian civilians be subjected to the disregard of human rights that the IDF and even Hamas have? Sounds like you are thinking of the Palestinian people as interchangeable with Hamas, such as the people may be punished by their acts and they can’t complain about it.
You speak of nuance but if anything you are erasing nuance. “Both sides bad so it’s all fair”. Nevermind relative civilian death tolls, infrastructure and household damage. Nevermind the whole history of this conflict going back decades.
It all went downhill when they decided that companies could just tell you to waive your rights without any scrutiny or negotiation.
Sure but experimental technology is still pretty risky, especially with Musk’s companies tendency to cover up any issues. Ending up brain damaged on top of blind and paralyzed would be a nightmare.
We can argue that when Disney ceases to be one of the biggest corporations in the world, and most people can live with part-time jobs, that leave them plenty of time to create art. AI is not going to make it so all art is made for fun rather than money, it’s just going to make it so media corporations get all of the money, without having to pay any to actual artists.
Those are two different situations.
There isn’t enough paying for shit that’s gonna make a mod run in an unmodified console. You can find people who have bought every single Pokémon game ever, and they still want to play romhacks and randomizers and such.
There’s something to be said about how willing people are to pay and whether they admit it or why. But sounds more like you don’t want to believe there’s any other reason to do it.
