I rarely ever use the brakes, even in the city – I’ve become accustomed to letting off the gas at the correct distance for the regenerative braking to bring the car to a stop at the line. There’s a good chance I might not replace the brakes for 10+ years.

Here’s an easy way to do it. Tax everything to do with cars - licenses, registrations, fuel, fluids (oil, transmission, coolant, etc.), tires, and insurance – and direct 100% of that money into public transit projects - increasing frequency and reliability of existing service, adding new services and routes, and offsetting fees for users. The best transit is cheap, fast, and good.

And FYI, the info about Signal was confirmed as they received a subpoena a couple years back, and their response was part of the public court records.
