Bah, that’s nothing compared to “driving along and then waiting ages behind a parked car to let an oncoming car through, then they don’t wave to thank you”.

That sums up my experience too, but I have found it good for discussing functions for SQL and Powershell. Sometimes, it’ll throw something into its garbage code and I’ll be like “what does this do?” It’ll explain how it’s supposed to work, I’ll then work out its correct usage and solve my problem. Weirdly, it’s almost MORE helpful than if it just gave me functional code, because I have to learn how to properly use it rather than just copy/paste what it gives me.
Absolutely agree with you, it’s about finding that value curve, where quality scales well with price. Say the cheapest ‘something’ is $10, the $20 one is twice as good, the $40 is maybe 70% better again but the $80 might only be 10% better than that.
As a beginner, I’d go for maybe the $20 option or the $40 if I were confident I’d stick with it. But yeah, it’s a pain when your ability to enjoy or succeed at a hobby is hampered by buying the cheapest option off AliExpress, haha.
It’s not perfect but PiHole will still catch a lot of the ads if you have the know-how to set one up. Tis a relatively cheap and easy solution that has the benefit of being able to block ads network-wide, providing your router lets you set a custom DNS.
.7z gang, represent
Same, recently got my 20 year Steam badge. I can feel my body aging around me.
I’ll have you know that I wrote a semi-functional webpage in HTML when I was in college 😎
Personally, I always loved the classic, side-on Mario games and thought the new features of this looked fun, but the best feature was the fact Nabbit and Yoshi don’t take damage. My 4 year old is autistic and wants to play video games with me but struggles. This allowed us to get through the levels together and he was so happy _ btw, they still die from falling, it still took a LOT of lives, haha.
I don’t know how many others bought it to play with their younger kids but it worked for me!
The only bad thing about Ethernet cables is that they’re shaped like a goddamn grappling hook. If I wanna pull an Ethernet cable through my desk, I must understand that every other cable in its path is coming with it.
Huh, TIL it’s possible to be sexually attracted to a keyboard
Sorry, I’ve just discovered from this thread that apparently Google has its own Find My! I was referring to Apple’s, sorry about that.
They already are, at least here in the UK. I’ve got a bunch of Eufy tags, work great.
Obligatory “Rock and stone!”

Oi, stop censoring Hitler’s tits
I tried to get into Usenet but I’m old and unable to learn new tricks. I just looked at EasyNews and it’s $9.99 pm for 20GB :| so, like, a single 4K movie with Atmos. I don’t understand the allure of UseNet, perhaps because I am a dumb.
I second this, I love my Apple TV. Blazingly fast and stable and the extra features are amazing. Bought a new sound bar the other day, held my iPhone up and it perfectly configured audio latency. The TV itself had trouble communicating with the sound bar over CEC so I told the Apple TV to learn the volume controls from the sound bar remote, took 10 seconds. When I got my TV, the AppleTV used the camera on my phone to configure the picture settings for most accurate colour reproduction. Added a couple notches of saturation because it’s my personal preference, done.
It plays everything I’ve thrown at it via Plex and Jellyfin, no issues. I also have Moonlight for streaming games from my PC via NVidia game stream and Steam Link for whenever Gamestream shits the bed. Just paired up an Xbox controller to the Apple TV, job done.
Oh, and TV OS 17 just came out and added third party VPN support, so if you do have Netflix or whatever, you can change region using a VPN.
I’m not an Apple fan boy but the Apple TV just works and if you already have a modern-ish iPhone (mine’s a 12), it makes it so much better.
Sorry, had notifications off!
Search AliExpress or Amazon for Bluetooth phone controller and the one I have is this one:
I also picked up an Ipega 9083S for my Android tablet the other day and that’s actually great. 11” 2K switch for £28 haha.
Holy fuck. This sounds exactly like what happened to me a year ago. One day, it came out of nowhere and I thought I was having a stroke. I was too dizzy to do anything and thought I might actually be dying.
After a month, it got a lot better but I still constantly get bouts of it, especially when I bend over. It makes playing with my kids incredibly difficult at times.
If it turns out I have BPPV and my doctors didn’t think to test me for THE MOST COMMON CAUSE of vertigo, ima be… unsurprised 😅
