uBlock on firefox here, no User Agent spoofing, videos load in ~1-2 seconds as normal still. Wouldn’t surprise me if it’s used in nicher circumstances though.

Demos still exist, sure. Just not anywhere to the scale and pervasiveness that they used to. Nor do they come in cereal boxes.

I remember when virtually every single game allowed you to play a ‘Demo’ for free, so you could find out exactly what the gameplay is like in any game before playing it. They often came in my cereal boxes as a kid, or free to pick up at the checkout. I still have a cool CD from the 2000s which has like five big studio name Demos in one.

As a fellow UK-er, the only real criticism I’ve heard about automatics is that it can be difficult to pull off quickly from a standstill - Have you found that at all?

Any sources to back up that a vague amount of infrared of the eye region is so meaningfully essential to face recognition systems? My sunglasses reflect most visible light, and they reflect some infrared light, and they cost $5. Even granting that very shaky claim, infrared blocking materials aren’t that expensive, this seems like a gimmick to make up for big prices.

A mask and any sunglasses or hat will prevent facial recognition 1000x better I suspect.

Undoing all the tax, benefits, and public services I’ve ever had wouldn’t get me out of poverty. Undoing the business and the non-worker class price gouging and manipulating of me and my family, and instead having a better incentive than profit, absolutely would.

Were there a limited number of deaths in protests elsewhere that wasn’t Tiananmen? Yep, about 2-3 hundred across a few hundred cities. And that’s bad! But is also pretty dang small relative to the protest size, and happens in all major protests in all countries everywhere.
