  • The sense of obligation towards your coworkers is something companies absolutely abuse and exploit. I’m not saying don’t have empathy for your fellow human, but people aren’t typically incentivized to use best possible solutions if they take more work outside of this obligation so you have to be careful to not let yourself be exploited because of it.

  • But if it were like he’s suggesting, people would complain that those characters final(ish) actions were out of character and it would make no sense for them to do those things. Just because you can see something coming doesn’t mean it isn’t enjoyable to watch. If you saw two trains heading towards each other on one track you wouldn’t look away simply because the you see the outcome coming. There’s a difference between foreshadowing and being predictable and imo it’s not good criticism.

I disagree; to me it sounds like they’re talking about crimes of passion like gunning down a spouse etc. These are the majority of gun homicides but you don’t hear about them much because one or two people killed isn’t ‘newsworthy’ on it’s own anymore. True mass shootings are infrequent comparatively but because of that and by their nature they’re what we hear about. True we shouldn’t be regulating based on relatively infrequent tragedies but they can draw attention to firearm homicides as a whole which are a serious issue and not always related to mental health issues in the same way.
