When you’re living in your own fenced community surrounded by walls and trees it’s easy to ignore whatever is going on outside the property line.

That’s what I was thinking too. If it’s expensive brand that might explain the high price.
I paid 285$ a few months ago for a refurbished HP from New Egg. It’s perfect for shoving in a bag and for writing. The charge lasts something like 4 hours if I sit there with it open. It’ll last 2-3 days on my desk when I open it occasionally. I have it set to go to sleep after 15 minutes.

I used to own an Acer Alpha Switch. I was legitimately sad when the screen cracked. The battery had started to go bad and turn into a pillow. I broke the screen when I was in the process of trying to put it back together. Acer has some newer models I was looking at which were more in the 450$ price range at the time. I ended up going with HP instead because of the price and because I’ve never had any beef with their products with the exception of their printers.
That’s wonderful! He seems like he found what he likes.
My step son can’t even remember how to make a hot pocket.
There was a Twitch channel that featured AI Trump and Biden debating. They’ve changed it to Trump and Kamala now https://www.twitch.tv/trumporkamala2024 might be worth a watch for such content.
I remember working in fast food and almost nobody ever thought to clean the nozzles or clean out the ice bin.
There is probably a ton of mold inside where the ice is kept.
What is a/s/l?
Idk but when I lived in a big city, I was always like “why do people shop at Family Dollar?” but there were several alternatives close by in the area.
Now I live in a rural area and Family Dollars are everywhere. They’re still over priced here, but the difference between the cost of their product and Walmart’s product is much smaller then back in a big city. And in some places in this rural area they are a hell of a lot closer than a standard grocery store which is half an hour away. I still avoid Family Dollar whenever possible, but sometimes it makes more sense to grab one or two things there instead of going all the way into town.
I remember I picked Lemmy.world to create an account only because I had no idea what I was doing and it seemed like the only one which had merit at the time (I know how things work better now.) Now that I know how decentralization works I’ll probably open a new account on another server when I get time.
To be fair, most high schook text books are clones of previous edition, they just update pieces to be relevant with the current era.
Lots of good ideas. I haven’t seen the basics such as Mac and cheese and even hamburger helper. They aren’t great for you but if you don’t have a lot of money or are just feeling lazy that day, it’s an option. Grilled cheese/sandwiches and Soups also come to mind.
Assuming you have an oven, you can bake a lot of the things you would normally put in a microwave. Pizza rolls, chicken nuggets, chicken patties, whatever. Usually there is baking instructions next to the microwave instructions and even air fryer now. Browse through the frozen section and see what catches your eye. Might find something new to try. You can find frozen ravioli in the freezer section you just need to boil in water and add sauce (when they float, they’re done.)
It’s been mentioned but pasta and a sauce and protein of your choice is a winner. You can buy canned or take the opportunity to learn how to make some. Usually, the more from scrap you can make it the cheaper it will be. A lot of times recipes do go nuts and have some ingredients I don’t have on hand, usually it’s not a big deal to skip one as long as it isn’t like a main one. Like for spaghetti sauce you probably want oregano and wouldn’t want to skip it. Sometimes trying new stuff is trial and error. Very rarely is it inedible if you screw up, it’ll just be “off.” it’s just part of the learning process. You can also look into substituting an ingredient if you don’t have that exact one. I’ve learned how to make due with milk if I don’t have something like half and half which is something I don’t just have sitting around in my refrigerator.
Nof sure what country you are in but in the US, there are stores like Ross and Ollie’s that buy good from other stores at a discount because that other store wants it gone. If you have something like that it’s worth a look. I got an 80$ hand mixer for 20$ and a coffee maker for half off. My mother in law has bought several air fryers as gifts for like 20$. Browse through one of these from time to time and you might find a good deal on a microwave. They usually have lots of pots and pans too either as sets or single pans if you need one. If you’re not sure what a good pan looks like then do a little research. I think Alton Brown had a Good Eats episode just on pans that was very informative.
Last thing that comes to mind is while you’re cooking on your stove, keep an eye on Facebook marketplace to see if someone is selling a microwave if that is something you are willing to do.
Shit, I forgot Google bought fitbit. I just bought a used one not too long ago.

Last time I went in there (probably 6-7 years ago now) I got asked 5 times in like 15 minutes if I needed help with something. Like fucking chill! I gave up on trying to find anything because I couldn’t think with being pestered. I also could tell I was being followed through the store by one of their loss prevention people while I was wearing business clothes on the nicer end of town.
I remember going in there once to get a cable for transferring data between drives and it was awesome because otherwise I would have had to wait days for one to come in. Being able to pick up something specialized or computer parts was pretty awesome. It was even more awesome when there were stores dedicated to that. I feel like micro center was the name of the one locally before their stores disappeared.
I loved my projector! I found it on ebay for a steal apparently because when I went to find my next one I couldn’t find the same quality for a reasonable price range I could afford at the time. When this TV blows up I’ll probably look at a projector again.
I have the same issue. For me it’s mainly some ip address in Russia but it bounces around. I’ve had the 2FA enabled on my account for at least a year now. I have a unique, random password for it. Recently (like a month or two ago) the 2FA app popped up with a message to click on the number to verify or deny. I knew it wasn’t me so I denied it.
I was worried someone had managed to guess my long ass password but I fiddled around with it and it’s possible to get that 2FA prompt when you are trying to do a password recovery. So I just let it ago and haven’t gotten any others since. I still feel like I should chang my email but based on what others are saying it doesn’t seem like it will make a difference.
I had a friend once who thought that doubling up on a condom meant double protection. That’s a huge no no.
Cat puking noises wake me up every fucking time so you’re onto something.
