I gave it up in 2016. It was early in the year, and 100% because I thought it was useless. Little did I know it was the best move of the year considering how much I heard about all the crazy people coming out during election season… It still exists, I really should find time to completely remove it now.

  • I stumbled on it by accident so I am not sure if it will be great, but it offered enough stuff that she wanted (I could care less about live tv!) That were going to give it a try. It’s called frndly tv and looks like it’s $10 a month or $8 if you pay for the year. It has a week trial so I guess we’ll see if it’s decent. The other one we saw was Philo but I think that was $25 and offered more channels but nothing more that we wanted that the first option didn’t have. Neither offer local channels which is why we’re also getting Peacock as well.

  • Yeah, bring the features… I think in the 4 years of being with Hulu they only had 1 redesign but still no new features and definitely never fixed any of the bugs that have been here forever. I really wanted to see some improvements to more 4k content and feature some of the live tv broadcasts in 4k but nope.

I finally canceled the over priced live tv and today’s the last day before it’s gone. $85 bucks a month is just not worth it. Found another service that offers a lot of channels for $8 a month and my wife only wants 1 local station so $7 for that. Knocking $85 down to $15 is a big win. I don’t think I will be the only one if they really think they can raise prices like that. Glad I’m done with them.

  • I’m done with Hulu… thankfully, I convinced my wife to finally say no to live tv. I switched the plan last month, and it’s gone as 8/8. I’ve been with them for about 4 years now, and it was $40 a month then, and that was with extras like unlimited tvs and no ads. Now it’s $85, and that’s cutting the TV streams and adding ads back.

When it renews, I am getting just Hulu for the year, which is $5 bucks less than 1 month now. The only thing that she watches live anymore is news, some sports, and the occasional event like Olympics. NBC (or peacock?) is like $7 a month and should cover most of it. Sorry Hulu, you got too greedy.

  • I have a library that’s been growing for about 20 years now. I don’t think I got too serious until around 2009, which is when I discovered music servers to host my library and quickly realized how bad its structure was. It took years of me getting folders done correctly followed by then working on tags. Automation scared me to much since the results were not always 100%. Once it was done I have kept a system to keep it that way the best I can.

So for me once I get new content I use the app tagscanner to edit everything to the way I like, then I drop them into music Picard were I found a tutorial online a few years ago to set it up to just edit music genres. I found the one thing I never got right was music genres so finding this tool was incredible. Took months to run large sections of the library though. Now I got every track labeled with up to 5 genre tags. Once that is done I change folder names to what I want, drop them into my music directory folder which is root > artist > album (don’t care about year since it’s tagged). Scan music into my musicbee app and if any are missing covers I right click and tell it to find them. Then do a scan with navidrome to add it all there.
