  • What about a bash script that calls your CI/CD because the system is so old and complex anyone learning how to use it immediately builds a 1-off tool to hide what they don’t need but then everyone starts relying on that 1-off bash script so you extend the functionality then replace it with a proper tool then let that rot so you need a new bash script to call that to hide the useless parts?

  • I did something stupid and my friend group was also my polycule. So when the polycule blew up I got left with nobody to talk with in a meaningful way and am basically trying to rebuild my entire social circle from scratch. Seattle is particularly difficult I swear everyone here is in a competition to see who can ignore the most people. I’m probably leaving the country in a year or so and apparently where I’m going is known for being difficult to make friends. Way I see it is I can’t seem to make any here anyway so I might as well feel out of place somewhere with healthcare than out of place in whatever fucking mess is going on here

  • That looks like sod. Basically the grass is pre-grown in a thin layer in top of a plastic sheet then cut in strips to get moved. New grass seed is very fragile, takes a while to root, and is basically a big mud pit. Sod can get an area up and running a lot more quickly and reduce the chance of the landscape changing before the grass can take hold

  • My favorite tactic used by several of the coffee shops near me is they start slowly turning the music louder. People naturally start leaving once it’s too loud to think or talk. Place I used to work at we’d turn off half the lights and everyone would just show up at the register no confrontation needed. People were fine with it a vast majority of the time but occasionally there would be someone who asked us to turn the lights back on so they could keep shopping
