Just pull the trigger, we both know how this ends.

Ooh! Ooh! Who are the three most communist friendly Lemmy instances and do they want to be friends?
Well shit.
That parrot is no more! It has ceased to be! It is an ex-parrot!
I prefer Machetecine.
Just in time for this relevant video!
Aka: the harbor freight method. I’m a big proponent of this one.
Above everything, lack of curiosity. If someone is uncurious, it’s a big red flag to me.
There’s two types of countries in the world, countries we’ve war crimed and countries we haven’t war crimed yet.
Yeah that immediately looks way under-extruded to me.
Also that wood stuff (from what I read) clogs terribly.
Is it not safe to expose externally with ssl yet?
My wife and I have been abusing our Ryobi for like 10 years. I thought it was finally dying, but then I got a new battery, still going strong.
I always start with harbor freight. When I break that one, I buy a nice version of whatever it was. I don’t buy “nice” tools very often. HF is nearly always “good enough.”
Ubiquiti has had outages in the past that meant you couldn’t manage the equipment right in front of you.
Even discounting the potential security implications of that kind of management, the rage I would feel in that situation is enough that I while my AP is nice, works great, I will never use any of their gateways.
I’m using a 2.5g protectli with OPNSense now, and it’s easy to manage, and all local.
“Pavement Princess”
It would be a crying shame if someone were to figure out a way to force those e ink displays to refresh fast enough that it kills the batteries on those things…
I’ve still got my old Anova, Bluetooth one. I don’t even use the app ever, I can set it up with the wheel and buttons. Still works great after like 5+ years. That said, I won’t be recommending them to anyone going forward.
I was super precious about all my cast iron for a long time. Then I had a thought watching this “cowboy” YouTuber wash his cast iron with some specialty thing.
“This fucking guy is like pretending to be out on the pasture or whatever. In the actual 1800s, this shit was probably just wiped out, or they used lye soap or something ridiculous! Why the fuck am I being so fucking careful?!?”
Now I do not care, like I’ve had my shit get rusty, crusty, “overheated”, the reality is that it’s a big ass chunk of metal! Short of deformation or intentional or extreme neglect (leaving it in the rain uncovered for 40 years) you will not destroy it.
If it gets too “sticky”, you oil it up and heat it, and bingo, it’s fine again.
It is possible to have lights that automatically turn on and off and not have to log in to the bespoke lightbulb app that stops being updated in three months while simultaneously rendering your lightbulb worse than useless because now it’s stuck on a dim shade of green that you can’t change because the last update broke the app.
The future we were promised is there, we just need to help it into the world.
We put in a bunch of trees and bushes this spring on our new property, so we had zero expectation of actually harvesting anything at all this year.
One of our raspberries has surprised by cranking out a couple of canes this fall. I’m grabbing a handful every other day or so, just collecting them in the freezer until I have enough to do something interesting.
I’ve missed eating things I grew. Our ducks should start producing eggs soon, I’m very excited about that also.
