I’m trying to block certain (porn) instances, I can’t seem to find it in the menu. Is it there and I’m dense or is that a feature for the future?
You can add instances to the filter here Settings shortcut: Filters > Instance filters
Woah… It’s super cool how you can link to settings and stuff like that
Do filters carry over to desktop though? I have many communities blocked, but my filter list is empty. Seems like it’d be better to have one unified list that’s cross-platform.
Unfortunately, I think this feature is app-specific since it’s not something that Lemmy itself supports. I’m sure that if the feature is implemented into Lemmy proper, LJD will implement the official solution with a method to merge the preexisting filter lists.
no, i think sync does not block communities you filter. so it will work only inside sync.
i hope the devs of lemmy and sync will agree on some standard so all the filters are done server side.
Go to a post from said instance and then press the three dot menu and then press filter and then press lemmynsfw.
Alternatively, move to feddit.de or sopuli.xyz, they don’t federate with adult themed instances.
The three dot menu doesn’t have a filter button, but it does have a sport mode one, no idea what that is
The one on the same row as the upvote and downvote buttons
Sport mode just automatically refreshes the comments

The suggestions these guys post seem to be client blocks, so I don’t think they persist on other clients. I think this is a feature that Lemmy needs to implement itself. Wonder why it doesn’t exist yet since Mastodon has it.
Most of these “feature” requests posted here have been issues with lemmy itself, wish people would stop assuming Sync===Lemmy. Sync is how you view lemmy, it’s not Lemmy
A lot of us are new to this, there’s bound to be confusion.
If you go to a community there is an option to block it (different than filter). It blocks it server side, but I didnt see the option to unblock in sync.
I don’t think that’s possible server-side yet
Thank you both!
