Bro you’re addicted to an industry notorious for trafficking and coercing women bro every medical professional in the world will tell you to consume as little pornography as possible bro
Imagine thinking that decreasing pornography consumption isn’t essentially the main focus of NoFap/NNN. Most members of those communities care a lot more on the pornography part than they do the orgasming component (excluding the schizos who go on about getting superpowers from semen retention)
The exploitation of woman is a real problem. But you’d be hard-pressed to find a lot of medical professionals who are entirely against porn. Unless you’re actually having an addiction, there is nothing wrong with porn. Just make sure you get it from the right sources.

Not what I said. All I said is that no professional prescribes pornography as any sort of medical advice and the prevailing attitude towards pornography in the medical world is to encourage people to consume it as a little as possible and limit exposure of it from teenagers and young adults. Coincidentally, these are by far the two largest consumer demographics of porn
Never heard of this ‘prevailing attitude’ and it does not make any sense either. What kind of harm could watching porn do to young adults and teens if it’s something almost universally done by them for multiple generations? They mostly tuned out fine anyways, again excluding addicts.
Weird how these people care so much about women in porn being exploited but don’t seem to care about the ones just being trafficked for sex that isn’t filmed. Or child labor. Or the various migrants being trafficked and enslaved for non-secual labor around the world.
It’s almost like they’re grasping for socially-acceptable justification for hating something they don’t like for non-socially-acceptable reasons…
Right, but the sudden onrush of “”““concern””“” from a community who’s rhetoric regarding women has been toxic in the past feels phony. You’d have a solid point in a formal debate but this isn’t that. This is the real world where context matters and a community’s prevailing attitudes are fair game for evaluating whether or not their arguments are made in good faith.
Yeah you got me, my comment was 100% in defence of human trafficking as long as it isn’t being filmed. And… child labour? What kind of response is this?

Weird how this never came up in the entirety of my Psych degree. It’s almost as if you’ve no idea what you’re on about.
Spoiler alert: you’re not gonna find a DSM entry for “porn addiction” because there’s a lot of debate over whether or not it’s even truly an addiction by clinical standards. If it’s interfering with your life to the point that you want to stop, can’t, and it’s damaging your relationships and life goals, THEN you have an issue. The WHO just lumps that in with a lot of things under the heading of “Compulsive Sexual Behavior” but there’s literally nothing special about porn.
A certain percentage of the population are going to develop problem behaviors with it do to a complex suite of physiological and cognitive factors, but that’s all.
We found a significant negative association between reported pornography hours per week and gray matter volume in the right caudate (P < .001, corrected for multiple comparisons) as well as with functional activity during a sexual cue–reactivity paradigm in the left putamen (P < .001). Functional connectivity of the right caudate to the left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex was negatively associated with hours of pornography consumption.
Here’s who reviewed the article. What specific issues do you have with it and her credentials? On what basis do you believe you are more qualified to make judgements on this topic than Dr. Casarella? What are YOUR credentials?
Are you claiming to have conducted an appropriate literature review or did you just shop around for a single journal article that sorta kinda supports what you think?
While we’re at it, perhaps you could explain how the study’s results support your beliefs?

How does the exact volume gray matter (a decrease, actually) relate? What was the size of the effect?
bro you’re letting all your masculine energy out bro

Ah yes, the all important “prevailing attitude test” considered so important in diagnostic efforts. /s

What you’re doing is called ‘whataboutism’. Just because someone voiced an opinion about X doesn’t mean they don’t care about Y or Z.

Source: a study conducted by Max Planck for the Institute for Human Development in Berlin, that found a direct correlation between pornography consumption and decreased grey matter in the brain. If this source isn’t good enough for you, let me know and I can find about a hundred others
