Seeing screenshots of ICS makes me feel pretty nostalgic about my old Galaxy Nexus. I don’t remember having any complaints about it. Anyone else feel the same way?
I remember when I first flashed CyanogenMod ICS on my S2 - it worked better than stock gingerbread! Loved everything about it.
Ah, the good old days of giving Samsung devices a second change at life! I really dislike how north American models have locked bootloader these days.
Was that typed from your Galaxy phone from Tapatalk?
when VoLTE
I remember being excited about 3G!
Sometimes I feel that android pre Lollypop was quintessential android. KitKat was so good on the Nexus 4. I had zero issues and I still miss the ticker notifications. Much simpler times I guess.
I think this is because now the consumer knows what he or she wants. It’s hard to build a mobile UI without expectations of consistency.
Back then, Android was more marching to the beat of its own drummer as it were and more dramatically crafting its design language, its visual identify.
Tech was more exciting in those days. Things were improving so fast, and there was a lot of freedom for users to make their device and services their own. Things are more buttoned down now, and while many things work better, it isn’t as exciting. When I first turned on my Galaxy Nexus I felt like I had teleported to the future. The device had its issues (hilariously short battery so I always carried a spare, screen burn in, and overheating), but the thing still works!
Imagine the start of the PC revolution. Also pretty exciting times.
Mature tech just isn’t as fun.
